Michael Nolan

Michael is an associate in the tax department and joined the firm in 2003.  Other than 3 years back in the City with Grant Thornton, he has been with the firm ever since.

Michael began his career in tax in 1995 with Coopers & Lybrand before moving to Ernst & Young.  He specialises in advising owner managed businesses, and their owners, on a wide range of tax matters including acquisitions and disposals, reorganisations, tax investigations and tax compliance.

Michael also specialises in capital allowances and undertook a series of seminars with a number of our solicitor clients to advise them on the complex rules regarding capital allowances for fixtures in property transactions.  The rules are such that a failure to deal with capital allowances at the time of the transaction can lead to little or no capital allowances being available for the purchaser and a potential claw back of allowances previously claimed by the vendor.

Away from work, Michael’s time is largely taken up following his sons’ sporting exploits or walking his dog.  Although both of Michael’s sons originally played football, with Michael helping out with coaching, they converted to rugby a few years ago and never looked back.
