Iain Thomson

Iain is an associate in the tax department and joined the firm in 2015.

Iain qualified as a chartered accountant in 1993 with a small Glasgow firm before moving to a Big 4 firm in 1995 to specialise in tax.  In 2000 he moved to a medium sized national firm where he continued his development.

He provides tax advice to mainly small and medium sized businesses and their owners and deals with a wide variety of tax issues, including buying and selling companies, R&D tax relief claims, tax investigations and succession planning.  He also advises charities, housing associations and not for profit organisations.

Recently he has been advising clients about the filing requirements of HM Revenue & Customs new flagship strategy Making Tax Digital that requires clients to store data electronically and file quarterly returns.

At weekends you will find him walking his dog and trying to reach his target of climbing all of the Munros.
